It’s the continuation of a legacy that began decades ago — rooted in craftsmanship, hard work, and a deep pride in building things the right way.
In the late 1940s, our grandfather, Luke Frank, became known throughout Nichols Hills and the surrounding communities for constructing high-quality homes that stood apart — laying the foundation for everything that followed.
In 1961, our father, Gary Johnston, joined Luke in the business — learning not only the trade, but the values behind it. Over the years, Gary built a diverse portfolio including homes, offices, restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, and storage facilities.
Each project expanded not just our capabilities, but our reputation. His career wasn’t defined by volume, but by consistency, integrity, and doing the job right — every time.
Family Matters …
In 1998, the next chapter began as Gary, alongside Jay and Craig Johnston, formally established Johnston Builders LLC. What started as a continuation of a family tradition quickly evolved into a company shaping developments across the Oklahoma City metro.
From residential communities to office parks, garage condominiums, self-storage facilities, and retail centers, the work expanded — but the foundation never changed.
